GTM Set To Boost Job Prospects For Young People

Leading traffic management company GTM has today announced a major commitment to the Government’s ‘Kickstart’ scheme. Kickstart aims to offer opportunities to young people at risk of long term unemployment. The company has set out ambitious plans as part of its Social Responsibility programme to attract and support young people into the business, including graduates, apprenticeships and Kickstart.

Through Kickstart, GTM will offer high quality six month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24 years who are deemed to be at risk of long-term unemployment.

GTM, together with sister business Network Plus, will be welcoming 34 new people into the business. Exciting roles will be available across 15 locations nationwide. They range from opportunities in traffic management, as well as water and power. Job roles are wide ranging and include activities such as traffic management support and work planning.

Due to successful long term contract awards, GTM and Network Plus has grown significantly in the last year. As a result of the growth young people joining the Kickstart programme will be offered opportunities in Preston, Bristol, Salford, West Midlands and East Midlands.

Applicants interested in joining the GTM Kickstart programme should complete an application through their local DWP Work Coach.

GTM will be working with Catch22 a charity and social business. Catch22 will help to administer and review potential applicants and manage the process on behalf of the company.

GTM announce major investment in latest hi-tech Eurolight® traffic lights

GTM have placed orders to the value of £2.8m with SRL to supply the latest innovation in portable traffic lights. The new range, called Eurolight®  comes with a mixture of traffic, pedestrian and ADS (Adaptive Detection System).   The benefits are that the intelligent ADS lights reduce congestion by learning and constantly adapting to real-time traffic movement. The ADS lights make automatic adjustments of ‘green’ times using machine learning algorithms, obtained through radar detectors. As well as operating on a standard 2 phase traffic light system, they can be used for up to 4 phase systems.

We’ve seen results showing journey times at road works significantly improve with Eurolight®. The hi-tech lights protect the safety of operatives on site and are cost efficient. Go Traffic Management announces major partnership with Speedy

Go Traffic Management have agreed a major partnership with Speedy to provide a co-located traffic management service at each of the main Speedy operating depot bases across the UK. Users of hired plant and equipment can come to Speedy and Go Traffic Management for a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution. The partnership will be established for an initial three-year period.

Go Traffic Management Has Appointed High Speed Expert

As Go Traffic Management expands its traffic management operations across the UK, it is investing in adding to its expert team to meet increasing demands. The team are delighted to have recently appointed high speed specialist Jason Lynch to the company.

Jason Lynch brings a wealth of experience. Having worked in the traffic management industry for more than 13 years, he has delivered high speed at a national level, for clients such as Highways England, and provided extensive winter maintenance programmes for Manchester City Council.

Network Plus group of companies appoints Charlie Cornish as Chairman

The Network Plus group of companies, which includes Go Traffic Management, are delighted to have appointed Charlie Cornish as non-executive chairman with effect from 1 January 2021.

Charlie was appointed Chief Executive of Manchester Airport Group (MAG) in 2010 and will continue in this role whilst providing impartial support and guidance to the fast-growing Network Plus business.

Charlie brings more than 30 years of utility and infrastructure sector experience to Network Plus. Prior to joining MAG, Charlie was a senior Director at United Utilities (UU). Roles included Managing Director for Utility Solutions, a UU business with operations in the UK, the Middle East, Australia, Bulgaria, Poland, Estonia and the Philippines. Previously he worked for a number of manufacturing and service companies including Plessey Telecommunications, British Aerospace and ABF.

Recently, GTM helped a major construction project undertaken by BAM Nuttall with their traffic management requirements.

Following flooding in the area, Shade Chapel in Todmorden had to be demolished after it became unsafe. The Chapel had suffered extreme water damage and was at risk of collapse. To make the area safe the difficult decision was taken to demolish the building and as it was situated near to a busy road a full traffic management plan was required.

Our traffic management teams at GTM worked closely with the client, Environment Agency and local resident committees before the work plan to develop the best solution for closing the road, ensuring safety and minimal disruption to the local community.

We placed five specialists on site, manning the traffic 24 hours a day during the work, to maintain closure points and continue resident engagement as required.

The project was a great success and is a fantastic example of how our GTM traffic management contributes to the wider vital infrastructure work across the UK.

National Rail Awards GTM

GTM Shortlisted for Two National Rail Awards

Go Traffic Management provided vital traffic management solutions to support the construction of the £350million Manchester Metrolink Trafford Park Line extension. The construction was led by a consortium, MPT between Laing O’Rourke, VolkerRail and Thales.

Work took place across the busy City covering 5.5km and safety, along with minimal disruption was of paramount importance. Go Traffic Management was a major construction supplier to the project and provided full traffic management solutions from, initial traffic design to delivery. The GTM team ensured the latest equipment was used and drew from their years of experience on complex projects to provide effective traffic management solutions.

The project was highly successful, with work completing seven months early in March 2020. It demonstrated best practice in health, safety and wellbeing, innovative solutions and collaboration.

The expansion of the Manchester Metrolink transport network is a great addition for Manchester as the extended Metrolink will help reduce congestion on the roads and make public transport around Manchester more accessible for its residents, commuters and visitors.

GTM is delighted to be a part of helping improve the air quality of the City and are honoured to be shortlisted for the two awards – Safety Initiative of the Year and Infrastructure Achievement of the Year.

War Memorial Event

GTM were delighted and honoured to support Derby Homes with their War Memorial Event.

The team provided road closures to ensure the service delivered was safe for all participating. Not only was the event successful but the service maintained the high standards and professionalism GTM provide.

Dan Wright and the events team were at the the event showing their respects to the war memorial. The HRH the princess royal was also in attendance to rededicate the war memorial.
