GTM becomes a member of the Traffic Management Contractors Association

GTM is pleased to join the Traffic Management Contractors Association (TMCA) and continue to uphold its services to the highest of standards.

The TMCA and its members are leaders in health, safety, wellbeing, social value, sustainability, innovation and technology for the installation, operation, maintenance and removal of temporary traffic management.

As leaders in the traffic management industry, operating across the UK, GTM is looking forward to being an integral part of the TMCA. As members, the team will work with industry partners tackling industry wide challenges and shaping the future collaboratively to deliver the best service possible for clients and the communities we work in.

Network Plus group of companies wins MEN Business of the Year Award 2022

Last week the Network Plus group of companies was the proud recipients of the “Business of the Year: Turnover £100m+” award at the prestigious MEN Business Awards 2022. This award recognises the dedication, value and success of our teams across all the Network Plus group, including GTM. It was a highly competitive process and great to see the continued rise of successful business across the region.


With our headquarters in Greater Manchester, Network Plus delivers services for a number of utility and infrastructure clients in the city region and across the North-West, with GTM providing expert traffic management services across the area. As a rapidly growing company, with a long history of providing crucial services to help keep Manchester’s infrastructure running and traffic flowing; our hundreds of team members operating in the area ensure our impact on the local community is positive and alongside our company passion for adding social value we make a real difference.

We need a strong team to deliver these services and take us forward, which is why we provide opportunities for apprentices, graduates and young trainees within the local area.”

GTM is celebrating Women in Construction Week

As part of the Network Plus group of companies, GTM is helping put a spotlight on the role of women across the Network Plus Group of companies and showcasing the great variety of jobs they perform, as part of Women in Construction Week. As a group of companies we strive to attract more females into the business. Across our wider teams we’re giving industry insight to school leavers, improving our recruitment, onboarding and providing career development. We recognise the fantastic women we have across the whole group for the great work they do.

 

Placing a focus on this is crucial. Industry data shows women account for only 11% of the construction workforce. This drops to just 1% of operatives on site. We know the UK has the lowest proportion of female engineers (less than 10%) across Europe and this coupled with the major shortage of qualified construction workers forecast presents an opportunity to encourage more women into the sector.

 

Specifically we are enhancing our recruitment processes and procedures, training and support to include:

A full review of our Recruitment and Selection Policy, ensuring transparency, gender neutral job adverts and targeted recruitment

Adding a process for at least one female candidate to be shortlisted for roles to encourage greater diversity

Proactively encouraging female project managers and site based roles through our recruitment processes

The set-up of a “Women in Network Plus” group to identify tangible ways to support each other and encourage more females, especially in operations

A “Women in Leadership” course through Salford University, launching in Spring

Supporting female managers to become mentors via the Women in Utilities network, and complete the Women in Utilities Success programme with Develop Training.

The Network Plus team are also continuing to run a zero tolerance policy on sexism and harassment on operational sites.

 

We are focussed on building an inclusive and supportive culture across Network Plus Group.

 

As we operate at the heart of local communities, a significant area where we can have an impact as a wider business is through our work with schools and colleges. The Network Plus group works with the education sector to help raise awareness of the industry. We share the roles available, the career potential and pathways. Case studies of the journeys of our own team members help attract young talented females into the sector. Our female leaders often deliver school presentations, STEM days and classroom lessons to help bring to life careers in this industry.

GTM have joined LCRIG

GTM have joined LCRIG

GTM are always looking for the latest innovations in traffic management and we’re delighted to announce we have joined LCRIG – Local Council Roads Innovation Group. LCRIG supports the ‘highways community’ by organising and coordinating a suite of activities to facilitate collaboration and innovation. Recognising GTM is now one of the UK’s largest traffic management providers with local depot bases up and down the country, we have made significant investments in latest technologies, plant and fleet and are at the forefront in delivering solutions which are both effective and sustainable.  We are really keen to share these with LCRIG members.

Go-live with Severn Trent Traffic Management Contract

Today marks a double go-live for GTM and Network Plus. Working in partnership with Severn Trent and other organisations, 1st December marks the launch of the new Water Network Maintenance contract. From today Go Traffic Management (GTM) will be supplying traffic management services across the North and South regions. The go-live has been meticulously planned. With comprehensive inductions, delivery of new plant and equipment to operational teams and provision of IT equipment, it’s been a major logistical feat; everyone involved is excited and ready to get going.

charity golf day

GTM raised over £25,000 for Macmillan with its first charity golf day

The team at Go Traffic Management (GTM) organised and hosted a charity golf day on Friday 3rd September to raise awareness and vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event was also in support of their dear colleague, Callum Powell who was sadly diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer earlier this year. Since his diagnosis the team has done all they can to support Callum and his family through hosting a number of charity events and raising funds in his honour. The golf day event was held with Macmillan Cancer Support and raised an amazing £25,211 for the charity.

Following months of planning and essential sponsorship from key suppliers, the day was well attended by colleagues from across GTM and its sister companies Network Plus and Network Plus Multi Utility. Key sponsors included PMCE, Beacon Traffic Management, Kennedy’s Irish Bar, JMK Civil Engineering, Enterprise, Buckhurst Plant Hire, Sapphire Utility Solutions and Westshield. The day was attended by many supporters from clients and supply chain. A great day was had by all and the golfing competition brought everyone together for such a worthy cause.

Mike Flynn, Director at Network Plus said, “It was an honour to launch our first ever charity golf day in honour of Callum and in support of Macmillan. I can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts into organising such a fantastic event and for those taking part who made it such a special day. Raising this amount of money is an achievement we should all be proud of.”

Cheryl Jenkinson – Corporate Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support added, “ The Golf Day that GTM delivered was fabulous and enjoyed by all. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the team at GTM and Network Plus and all the event sponsors as well as the guest from Utilities Supply chain who kindly donated on the day. Together you helped raise an incredible total of £25,211   These funds will be used to provide 785 Macmillan nursing hours, for people just like Callum where our trained clinical nurses can address the all-round needs of people living with cancer supporting them emotionally, financially and medically.  Thank you”

Network Plus group of companies awarded double contracts with Severn Trent

The Network Plus group of companies which includes Go Traffic Management (GTM), has been successfully awarded two significant Water Network Maintenance contracts with Severn Trent. The first contract award sees the company providing traffic management services across the North and South regions of Severn Trent. The second contract award relates to reinstatement, resource support and dig and fix activities, again across the North and South regions.

The new Water Network Maintenance contracts will last up to 10 years and start on 30th November 2021. The North area covers Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The South area covers Worcestershire and Gloucestershire as well as South Birmingham.

Traffic Management services will be delivered through GTM who will provide solutions ranging from surveys, traffic management design and deployment of low speed and high speed services.

The second contract award will see Network Plus provide a wide range of services and core resources including the excavation, repair and maintenance of water mains as well as backfill and reinstatement of excavations.

Dave Trotter, Executive Director said “These contract awards reflect our commitment to support Severn Trent in delivering great services in a competent, safe manner. We are absolutely delighted that we will be working together towards shared goals. We expect to build on our existing strong client relationships to showcase our capabilities in both traffic management and clean water network maintenance.”

Our Group company, Network Plus, has completed the strategic acquisition of EOS Contracting Limited on 6th August 2021. This is the second acquisition completed during this financial year and supports the Group’s diversification strategy.

Leading utility and infrastructure service provider Network Plus has completed the strategic acquisition of EOS Contracting Limited on 6th August 2021. This is the second acquisition completed during this financial year and supports the Group’s diversification strategy.

Established in 2013, EOS Contracting has an excellent reputation for the safe and efficient delivery of arboriculture and infrastructure vegetation management services. The company operates across the Midlands and the South East and has secured a number of strategic, long term contracts with leading utility and infrastructure asset owners.

The acquisition strengthens Network Plus’ service offering to the UK’s distribution network operators by providing complementary solutions including specialist vegetation surveys and arboriculture activities.

Sam Atherton, Group Business Development and Strategy Director said “This acquisition opens up an exciting new market to Network Plus and complements our existing overhead line operations. In adding EOS’ skill sets and expertise, we can offer more intelligent delivery solutions to our electricity clients, minimising network outages, reducing disruption to customers and increasing overall efficiency.”

“EOS supports a number of the UK Distribution Network Operators, and a range of clients within the civil engineering, rail and highways markets. We are excited to explore these additional markets and maximise the business’ potential. As with Capital Traffic Management earlier this year, we will now work closely with the management team to enable a smooth integration into the Group.”

Key personnel at EOS Contracting, including Alex Gurney, will remain with the organisation to ensure continuity of service to clients.

Our Group company, Network Plus has completed the strategic acquisition of Capital Traffic Management Limited on 4th June 2021. This forms part of Network Plus’ ambitious growth strategy and follows the successful acquisition and integration of specialist overhead lines contractor, Overlec in 2017.

The acquisition strengthens Network Plus’ traffic management and highways operations, spanning the UK’s major transport network from Scotland through to the South of England.

Established in 2006, Capital Traffic Management has an excellent reputation in the market. The company operates across London and the South East and has secured a number of strategic long term contracts to provide specialist traffic management services.

Capital Traffic Management and Network Plus’ subsidiary Go Traffic Management (GTM) provide complementary solutions ranging from surveys, traffic management design, detailed planning and deployment of low speed and high speed services.

Sam Atherton, Group Business Development and Strategy Director said “This acquisition builds on the significant presence of GTM as one of the UK’s major traffic management providers. The expansion into London and the South of England is a key step in our plan, allowing us to provide better and more efficient services to both existing and new customers.”

“Capital Traffic Management supports a range of clients in the civil engineering, telecoms and multi utility markets. We will work closely with the management team to enable a smooth integration into the group and support the next phase of growth for the business.”
