Orsted ( Formally DONG Energy )
2017 – 2022
GTM gained a 5-year contract with Orsted Energy to supply the provision of traffic signals together with barriers at West Coast Operations, Barrow in Furness. Orsted Energy construct and operate offshore wind farms, and have asked GTM to provide a crossing with semi-permanent traffic signals that will be working in conjunction to barriers that will enable a truck to transport the wind turbines from their facility to the quays where there will be a ship waiting to take them offshore safely and efficiently without causing disruption to the surrounding area.
GTM are pleased to say that we are sourcing technical equipment to fulfil the coordination of the works such as:
- Civil works
- Signal equipment
- Detection system
- 2D and 3D visualisation
Each temporary traffic signal will be fitted with a sensor to detect traffic flow so that when a turbine must be transported towards the dock the barriers will be signalled to drop and traffic flow will be controlled to ensure a safe passage for the working vehicles to the other side. Ducting will be fitted underground where the electrical cabling will be fed through to each of the equipment supplied ensuring no obstruction within the work area. In case of power failure or damage from a vehicle GTM have provided an escalation plan which will ensure that in both cases there will be a swift repair where an operative will bring barriers and battery powered signals to provide temporary traffic management.
