In July and August 2012 during the London Olympic Games, GTM carried out all event traffic management to facilitate the football games at Manchester Old Trafford. Working on behalf of AECOM-CAPUK, GTM managed successfully a large and complicated traffic management system ensuring 70,000 people arrived and left the venue safely.
The Traffic Management system we deployed to handle this large volume of spectator’s involved 15 fully qualified traffic management operatives, 40 pedestrian marshals as well as taxi marshals.
We used a large amount of our fleet and equipment to manage these events including our IPV (Impact Protection Vehicle) 7.5t Light good vehicles and 12 Transit Traffic Management Vehicles.
Lee Pilling – General Manager of GTM was appointed LAMTP Consultant to deliver the project for AECOM. This required Lee to attend meetings in London and a permanent site office to orchestrate the following:
