GTM SAVE REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY PARADE

GTM Save Remembrance Sunday Parade

The Royal British Legion in Hoyland, Barnsley was forced to cancel it’s Remembrance Sunday Parade because of the lack of police cover as a result of cuts to policing budgets.

After hearing the news, GTM General Manager, Lee Pilling offered GTM’s services free of charge, ensuring that parade went ahead to remember and honour those who sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. Lee said “it was a real shame that, because of cuts to policing, veterans weren’t getting the respect they deserve and Go Traffic Management are more than happy to help ensure that the Hoyland Remembrance Parade went ahead.”

After thanking Lee and GTM for their kind offer, Michael Dugher (local MP), said “this is a victory for all of us in the local community who were determined to see a proper parade to remember the service and sacrifices of our Armed Forces”.

On Sunday 8th November, Lee, Steve Corby, Neil Buckle and Matt Ashness provided Hoyland with the rolling road block and marshalling required for the parade to happen safely.

The local Hoyland community took to social media to express their gratitude for GTM saving their Remembrance Sunday Parade, with one participant saying that “the traffic management was faultless, and was, in fact, better than that carried out by the police in previous years.”

Well done to Lee, Steve, Neil and Matt!
